The Sleep Quality Monitoring Watch is a wearable device designed to help users identify optimal sleep conditions by measuring ambient sound and light levels. Using sensors and an LED feedback system, the watch provides a quick visual indication of environmental quality, encouraging healthier, more restful sleep through real-time, non-intrusive feedback.

Development

This project was developed to explore how wearable technology can support environmental awareness and sleep improvement. The goal was to design a simple, non-intrusive watch that visualizes the quality of a sleep environment by measuring and displaying ambient light and sound levels.

The system was built using an Adafruit Flora microcontroller, paired with a microphone and light sensor. The device reads real-time environmental data and communicates it through a set of onboard LEDs. Red lights increase in number and brightness in response to noise, while white lights reflect the intensity of ambient light. The fewer LEDs active, the more suitable the conditions are for sleep, offering a quick, visual way to assess room quality without the need for a screen.

Development focused on managing sensor sensitivity, LED control, and compact hardware arrangement to ensure wearability. Special attention was given to the visual output, using color and intensity to convey information in a calm and unobtrusive way. The project also provided a practical study in the use of soft electronics and wearable microcontrollers for health-related feedback.

This work served as a hands-on exercise in designing responsive, low-interaction devices aimed at supporting daily wellbeing through clear, ambient communication.
